Looking for a vintage and romantic inspired “Cards” banner to display at your wedding reception? Here is a simple and cute way to personalize your big day using paper doilies and book pages to create a book page banner.

Vintage Inspired Book Page Banner

I found an AWESOME deal on paper doilies at PaperMart.com, which is the same place we ordered the acrylic boxes for our s’more kits. The box was less than $10 and came with 1,000 doilies (holy cowza!). Yes, that’s A LOT of paper doilies but it was such a great price I figured I would find uses for the extras…eventually. We had planned on wrapping the silverware at our wedding in doilies and then tying them off with twine. Yeah… um that didn’t happen, haha.

Although the photos in this post pretty much show how I made a doily heart “Cards” banner for a wedding, you can always skip the printing part or even customize it to say “Guestbook”, “Love” etc.

Materials Needed for Book Page Banner

The first thing I did was tape some book pages to a piece of cardstock paper and print out the letters to spell out “Cards”. I did this a couple times to gage where they would print.

This was my second attempt to print on the book pages and this time I taped the edges down with double-sided tape. I’m sure I could have measured out where each letter would print, but I was a little too impatient for that so it was more of a trial and error process.

Once I had all of my letters printed out I cut them into heart shapes.

I then placed 2 pieces of double sided tape in the center of the paper doily and attached the paper heart to it. You could use glue if you prefer but the tape worked really well.

Afterwards I weaved some fishing line in the doily cut out holes. You could use twine or string if you prefer, but I like that the fishing line is clear and it was really easy to get into the smaller holes.

Side Note: We used the fishing line we had on hand, which happened to be 12lb test. You shouldn’t need fishing line that thick, you could probably use 4lb or even less. Use your best judgement and you should be good.

I attached our book page banner to a picnic basket so guests could toss their cards inside.

I had also made one without the printed letters for our time capsule guestbook box. So what do you think? Pretty easy, huh?
