DIY Fabric Tape Pumpkins

You see, it all started when I was attempting to organize my craft room. I quickly became distracted (as I often do when trying to get organized) by my collection of fabric tape and specifically a brown gingham-style that I previously ignored.

The pattern had come in a 3 pack I purchased from Michael’s a while ago, but I originally bought the pack for another pattern. In fact, I had purchased 2 of those packs, leaving me with 2 rolls of the brown plaid fabric tape which was now calling my name.

The color and pattern are so perfect for Fall, don’t you think?

The first thing I did was place the tape all over a yellow elephant knick-knack I had. Ya know because isn’t that the first thing you do when you see fabric tape you like… start placing it over random objects within arm’s reach? 🙂

I’ll have to find the before photo of this elephant but it was made out of ceramic, but I love how the fabric tape makes it look stitched on. It’s not the best job, but I was excited and impatient and taped this little guy in a matter of minutes.

Of course, after I taped off the elephant I started looking around the room to see what else I could tape and that’s when the pack of faux pumpkins caught my attention…

Where to find Fabric Tape?

The brown gingham fabric tape I used in this post came in a 3 pack I purchased from Michael’s with a coupon, but I found the same gingham pattern, only in black available on Amazon.  Of course, you can always make your own using fabric scraps and double-sided tape.

Where to buy Faux Pumpkins

I purchased my plastic faux pumpkins and gourds for less than a dollar each at Walmart, but you could also buy them from in packs from craft stores using a coupon, or online at Amazon, etc.

There really is no right or wrong way to decorate these little guys. You basically just cut your fabric tape into strips and then start placing the strips on the pumpkin. I like to start in one area and make my way around. You could also try using washi tape.

See how easy that was? Now that’s my kinda project. Here’s a photo of it next to my fabric tape mason jar lid pumpkin.
