Today I am sharing a rustic plaid vase upcycled from a tin can. This is super simple to make and can be personalized for your home or wedding decor in just a matter of minutes. I especially love how soft and cozy the flannel plaid fabric looks for the holidays.

How To Make An Upcycled Plaid Vase

The first thing you will want to do is clean and dry off your cans or jars. If you plan to use cans I would stick to those that don’t have sharp edges on the inside.

You can then cut your fabric to size so that it will fit around your can or jar. If your fabric is wrinkly you can iron it out at this time too. I used a very small amount of the green + navy flannel plaid fabric shown above, the rest was used on DIY stockings 🙂

Cans are easier to wrap since they are perfectly round, so you may find it’s easier to wrap the fabric around only part of a jar due to its shape. By the way, you could also cover old vases with the fabric.

Once your fabric is cut simply add double-sided tape around the can and then press the fabric onto it. Easy peasy! I had folded over the edge of the fabric to keep the lines nice and straight.

Afterward, I cut and then placed my flowers inside with fresh water, and this is what they looked like around day 4 of the flowers opening up:

If you are looking for a simple way to add flowers to your home or wedding decor, why not check your recycling bin first? Before heading out to purchase fabric, why not see if you have any clothes or bedding in your closet that you no longer use?

So what do you think?

Thank you so much to The Bouqs Co. for providing me with such beautiful flowers to use in this post!
