I enjoy wrapping gifts almost as much as I enjoy giving them, and that’s especially true during the holidays. I’m no expert at wrapping presents but I can’t think of anything better than finding creative ways to wrap the gifts picked out for those you love.

Speaking of…I recently picked up a few cozy items for friends and family at one of my favorite shops, LOFT. Today I’m sharing some rustic Christmas gift wrapping ideas in hopes of inspiring you this holiday season.

Here are a few of the gifts I’ll be wrapping, which include some cozy socks, a sweater, the softest scarf EVER, grey gloves and an adorable knit ear warmer.

True confession: There were so many amazing sales going on at LOFT that I may have even picked up a few new winter items for myself 🙂

Rustic Christmas Gift Wrapping Ideas

Over the years I have come to discover that my favorite gift wrapping ideas are those that are simple and revolve around natural elements.

In case you are new here, I’m pretty much obsessed with copper and I especially love it paired with black. It’s the perfect blend of rustic and modern. Although I used chalkboard wrapping paper I opted not to write on it and instead just leave it as the perfect backdrop for the pops of copper and greenery.

Also, when it comes to wrapping twine or ribbon around my boxes I try my best to throw perfection out the window and instead go for a more relaxed vibe.

I wanted to add an extra personal touch, so I created some printable gift tags based on the holiday cards I made last year.

Ornaments are a simple and effective way to spruce up gifts as well. I LOVE this berry wreath against the kraft paper and linen ribbon. I just centered a chalkboard tag in the center for a clean, rustic look.

And I couldn’t wrap a gift without including a wood slice Christmas ornament, like this one that says “Warm & Cozy.”

Don’t be afraid to layer different ribbons and trim as these will create texture and interest to your packages. I also used a galvanized tag on this present although it’s hard to tell in the photo.

Last year I painted a wooden box and filled it with DIY ornaments and this year I decided to do the same thing, only this time I included something a little more useful 🙂

I had a small box full of decorative bells so I spray painted a few of them, copper, to add a little sparkle.

Do you save any pretty boxes throughout the year? I can’t remember what came in this one but I put it in my closet knowing it would be perfect once Christmas rolled around. #kittyapproved

It’s a blue-ish gray color and feels like linen. I just added some ribbon, twine, greenery, and a bow. Simple but pretty.

  1. Great post. I find Loft one of my favorite shops. I clicked on it from your post and they had a nice coupon! Thanks Katie and Happy Advent season!

  2. I love all of these ideas! I haven’t started wrapping yet…I’m going to give some of them a try when I get my act together and start. And your kitty picture made me smile, because I have 4 cats that plant themselves in any box they can find, no matter how small!

    1. Thanks Michelle! Yeah, I don’t think cats crawling in boxes to take a nap will ever get old. It’s the cutest thing ever. It’s especially fun to see them try and squeeze themselves into smaller boxes. haha. Happy holidays!

  3. I love your gift tags! What do you use to design those, as well as your other printables? I’m positive there’s a Cricut under the tree with my name on it, so those definitely caught my eye! 🙂

    1. Thanks Kody! I actually designed them with Illustrator and then just printed and cut them out, but you can certainly use the Cricut or Silhouette to make tags. I have a Silhouette machine (similar to Cricut) and LOVE it and I still have so much more to learn about it too!
      Happy holidays!
