I love decorating our home for the holidays, the sparkly lights and greenery makes it feel so magical, don’t you think? And moving into a tiny house on wheels didn’t change that.

We still have projects and touchups to finish up in our RV, and it’s far from perfect, but I’m going to ignore all that right now. Instead, I’m going to think about how excited I am to show you our RV Christmas Home Tour!

When we hit the road in our RV four months ago the one area I had issue downsizing was all of our Christmas decorations. Somehow I managed to narrow down my faves into a small box, which just so happened to be the same box that got soaked with water on our very first day in the RV.

RV Newbies - Shower water drained through basement storage. Woops!

I’ve gotta admit that we definitely could have brought a few more Christmas decorations with us. Then again, it’s probably best that we didn’t…

In 2017 one of my goals is to be a part of our YouTube channel that my husband started. Well, I took my first baby step this past week and gave a quick tour of our RV, eeek! It may only be my voice, but hey, that’s a start right?

Be warned that I’m super awkward and even make car sounds go around a corner, haha. You can watch the video below:

Let’s get onto the photo tour of our RV all decked out for the holidays, shall we?

We wanted to keep things pretty simple in the RV, sticking to mostly greenery that we wouldn’t have to worry about storing. We always get a real tree, but this was the first year we debated going with an artificial one. In the end, the real tree won once again (yay!) when we realized we’d have to store a fake one.

We may have jumped the gun a bit early when we picked up our cedar garland, being that we’ve had it up for over 3 weeks now so it’s pretty much dead. Woops. I even called around this past week to see if I could find any more, but all of the local places were out of pine and cedar, and we’re about an hour from Home Depot, which is where we picked it up the first time. Oh well, I still think it looks pretty.

By the way, the curtains are hung up using this tension rod.

I’m so happy I made my rustic winter pillows on a whim, I love them! Plus they give our RV more of the cabin vibe, which we are all about.

By the way, we left our rustic tree collar in storage, so this year we picked up a galvanized tub from the Tractor Supply Store for about $12 and used our jigsaw to cut a hole in it. I got the idea from ChicCalifornia, and love how it turned out! It’s actually a smidge too small for our tree stand, oops, but we tried to disguise it with our furry white rugs.

I brought some ornaments, including our photo ornament, and made a few new ones this year as well.

The square ornaments were made from wooden ornament boxes I dismantled, along with the help of my Silhouette machine.

The two mini trees are from the dollar spot at Target, I had to remove the base they were in to get them to fit on our sconces, and then placed them inside a couple galvanized buckets with some battery-operated lights. I recently made the “Winter Wonderland” sign using some wood we found here on the farm.

The “Let’s Be Adventurer’s Sign” was made with my Silhouette machine, but I have the printable version in the shop.

We love our electric fireplace, which is definitely helping us keep warm in these freezing temps, along with our gas heater. Can you believe there’s a 48 inch TV on a lift, and a table/desk that extends over 4 feet tucked away inside that media cabinet? Gotta love tiny storage solutions.

From this view, you can see the custom sofa we built and get a glimpse of the little wooden train I snagged from HomeGoods this year. While those ottomans may not be the prettiest, I like that they can be turned into extra seating and storage. We actually corral a lot of our loose items into them before we hit the road.

Not a whole lot going on in our tiny kitchen, just a small wreath and some tree clippings in a jar. I originally planned to put two small wreaths on the windows but one side is the screen and I was too lazy to figure out how to hang a second one. By the way, I get asked about our mountain wall art quite a bit, which was super easy to make, and you can find the post here.

I love this little area to the right filled with extra hooks. I added some tree clippings to a little hanging basket and switched out one of my photos for a Christmas printable.

We haven’t watched Elf yet because it’s one of our favorite Christmas movies and we try to save those for last, but I’m thinking it’s about time we give in and watch it. By the way, this Christmas printable is also up in the shop.

This is looking down the hallway that leads to our bathroom and bedroom. The hallway windows in our RV were one of the main reasons we went with this model (2008 Tiffin Allegro Openroad 32LA). I need lots of natural light and love all of our windows.

You may recognize the Christmas wall art, which I had up in our previous home tours. I did snag that “Joy” ornament from Target this year and have it hanging from a frame.

You can access our bathroom from the hallway or bedroom. This is the view from the hallway. We haven’t shared too many bathroom projects on the blog, but you may recognize that horseshoe shelf, or tp holder.

We recently made the new linen closet door using old tin and wood we found here on Eric’s family’s farm. We’ll share more on that a bit later, but I LOVE how it turned out! It’s basically what I wanted our bathroom sliding door to look like, only we ran into a few issues when we tried some new techniques to save on weight. We’ll be creating a new sliding bathroom door for the hallway here soon…

Here’s the view of our bathroom from the bedroom. It’s funny but I don’t think we’ve really shared any photos of this space, and it’s one of my favorites! Although you can catch glimpses in some of Eric’s previous tours on Youtube.

Here I added some more tree clippings, a little picture of Frosty and a snowflake candle holder. By the way, all of the candles you see lit throughout our RV are LED.

Here we are in the bedroom. It’s not huge, but we have everything we need and it feels big enough for me (unless I’m cursing as I make the bed). We added some cedar garland around the slide-out and it’s made a huge impact on the space.

That moose pillow has now made it through 3 Christmas tours and is one of my favorite pillows, which is saying a lot considering I’m such a #pillowhoarder.

You can also see that we added a wreath to our map. We haven’t been able to utilize the map too much lately, but that should change in the upcoming months as we start traveling more.

You can also see our fold down desk and Tahoe print in the corner, which is one of my favorite places to work.

It may be tiny, but this bedroom feels so warm and cozy, especially with the blanket of snow outside.

Here we are back in the living room. It’s starting to get dark so you can see the glow from all Christmas lights…

This photo is one of my favorites because it shows how magical our RV feels with all of the twinkling lights.

And here are a few nighttime photos from our RV Christmas home tour.

The little tree next to the fireplace and the other little one in our bedroom is from Hayneedle. I like the extra glow they bring to the RV and figured they won’t take up too much space when it comes time to storing them. Plus I had a $40 credit so I snagged them both up for around $10.

We’re heading back South to visit my family for the holidays so we won’t even spend Christmas in our RV, but that didn’t keep us from getting a tree or decorating. We love the holiday season so much that we decided even a few weeks in the RV during December would make it worth it, and it definitely has. This is one Christmas I’ll never forget.

That about wraps up our RV Christmas home tour. I hope you enjoyed seeing how we decorated our tiny house on wheels! We hope you’ll follow along as we continue to share the projects we’ve created, as well as our travel journey.

By the way, you can see the before photos of our RV here.

  1. It all looks beautiful, you two. Hope you are enjoying the holidays with your family. Cheer and Merry Christmas, Ardith

    1. Thanks Ardith! I can’t even believe I considered heading straight West, stopping to see our family is the best Christmas gift we could have gotten. Gotta love the beauty of a home on wheels 🙂

  2. I really enjoyed your home tour! Thank you for taking the time to post it, and Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you Kristi! It was fun decorating it for the holidays but now I can’t imagine it without all the twinkling lights.

  3. Your RV looks so cozy for Christmas!! Love it all! I didn’t know you had printables so I will definitely check those out.

    1. Thank you April! I love printables, and they’re especially coming in handy in the RV since I like to make changes often but don’t want to sacrifice weight 🙂

  4. Wow Katie, your home looks amazing! Tell all the family “Hi” for me. I’m so glad all is going so well for you and Eric. Now I just need ya’ll to swing by Texas and help me figure out how to make our little pop-up gorgeous and functional again. ?Hope you guys had a wonderful, Cheers!!

  5. How lovely and festive! As we begin to scale down and prepare to go fulltime, I almost had anxiety over my mountain of Rubbermaid containers filled with Christmas decor. How am I going to say goodbye to years of traditions and decorations?! Thanks to your video, I see I can take some treasured items with us and still have a pretty “home for the holidays”!

  6. Your RV is awesome! I wish the RV dealers would take some decorating ideas from you guys! We are looking to buy an RV and would love one in your mountain modern style (but we are not handy.)

P.S. I was only able to see half of your awesome tour because of ads covering the video that were unable to be closed:(

Keep up the great job creating and decorating!

    1. Thank you for the sweet comments and the head’s up about the ads. I thought I had ads turned off on this page, but that doesn’t effect the video, and those should definitely be able to be closed so we’ll have to look into it.

      Katie

  7. Very beautiful! We just sold our house in July and bought a fifth wheel. Love it! I was looking for some ideas to decorate for the holidays.

  8. You must not move your rv very often. That would be a lot of stuff to pack up if you were moving once a week.

    1. Hi Holly! Nope, we don’t move all the time although the photos you saw in this post were taken right before we packed up and went to Georgia for the holidays. Even though we didn’t spend Christmas day in the RV, we were determined to decorate and enjoy as much of the month as possible with our tree and lights and simple decorations. Aside from the tree and garland though we do generally have a decent amount of stuff out and when we move we just corral things into bins or drawers – it really hasn’t been a big deal when we do move but we unless it’s travel days we stay in one place for at least a couple weeks at a time. This year we are staying put through the holidays so we decorated even more than last year, including our outdoor space.

  9. I absolutely love your RV guys. We just recently purchased our fifth wheel. We just finished demo and ready to paint. Your posts are very helpful. What kind of fireplace is this? Electric? Are you guys happy with it ? We can’t decide between infrared and electric.

    1. Thank you! I don’t have any experience with infrared fireplaces, so I’m not sure which would be best, but ours is electric and it’s worked awesome for us so far!
