I realized that I still hadn’t posted this super duper easy way to decorate your terra cotta pots using contact paper, so here it is! You may have first spotted this idea over on my post about my DIY rustic modern plant stand,  and as you may have noticed… I <3 me some copper.

My sister-in-law had sent me some copper contact paper a few months ago and I’ve been using it all over the place! It even popped up on some of my DIY business cards and on the back of some wedding invitations. I will be sharing another fun and easy DIY project using copper contact paper on Monday.

So if you are looking for an easy and affordable way to decorate your plant or flower pots grab yourself some contact paper and scissors, and you will be good to go!

How to decorate terra cotta pots using contact paper

This project really doesn’t even need instructions, the photos pretty much explain it. What’s so great about using contact paper to decorate your pots is that you can do this either before or after plants or flowers have been potted, plus you really can personalize them to match your home decor style.

You can use any kind of contact paper design, just make sure it’s the self-adhesive kind. It should have a grid on the back of the paper which makes it easy peasy to cut out the shape or design you want. You really don’t even need a ruler.

I used 2 different size triangles, but you can use any design or pattern you want.

Once you have your shapes cut out, simply peel off the back and stick them on the terra cotta pot. I didn’t really measure my design out around the pot, just sorta winged it and think it turned out pretty decent. Honestly, I was kinda impressed with how well it turned out, and although you are able to re-position the contact paper shapes if you need to, they actually stuck on really well. In fact, this little plant has been outside since May and it’s still looking good!

So what do you think? Do you plan to decorate terra cotta pots? Not too shabby for an easy way to spruce up those pots AND it’s even temporary so you can always change it up for the seasons. I <3 contact paper, don’t you?

By the way, my sister-in-law sent me the Copper Metal-FX Con-Tact Paper a while ago, but it’s available on Amazon, as is the Gold and wood grain contact paper.
