WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RENOVATE RV’S?

My husband Brad and I lived in an RV while we built our house (5 of us and a dog). After our home was built, we renovated the rig and sold it…that was 5 years ago. I’ve been a designer for 21 years and have renovated several homes. During Covid, neither of us were renovating inside homes so we went back to our experience with tiny living and decided it was something we could do while social distancing. Guess what? We both agree that we enjoy tiny renovating much better than home renovation so we started Wisco Flip and the rest is history.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE this SPECIFIC travel trailer to renovate?

I knew I wanted to do a coastal renovation that had a Charleston vibe. Half way through the renovation, we posted progress pictures and a couple from California purchased it as a mobile beach home. We finished the renovation with their input and love the way it turned out.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR DECORATING STYLE?

I like to use as many natural elements as possible to create a cozy space without too many extras. I’ve always been drawn to the peacefulness of the ocean and how it makes me feel so I love coastal casual design.

WAS this travel trailer renovation INSPIRED BY ANYTHING OR ANYONE SPECIFIC?

I wanted a coastal southern feel with a little whimsical print on the wall that reminded me of Charleston, SC.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF INTERIOR DESIGN?

Working with amazing people and coming up with practical solutions that are also pretty.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP FOR DECOR?

Ikea, Amazon, HomeGoods, Urban Outfitters, and last but certainly not least..Target!

What was most challenging about this coastal rv renovation?

The renovation was wonderful but coordinating transport to California from Wisconsin came with some challenges.

WHAT PROJECT MADE THE MOST DIFFERENCE?

I think the wallpaper really added a lot of dimension and depth to the small space making it feel open and airy. We also enjoyed doing the cane webbing finish we put on the cabinet doors.

DO YOU TAKE ON CUSTOM RENOVATION PROJECTS OR OFFER DESIGN CONSULTING?

Yes we do!! We’ve had several folks purchase our rigs (pre-renovated) and we work with them to design their dream space. We also offer design consulting.

“I love the bathroom renovation and all of the little accents like the leather strap shelves and the pearl shell edges mirror.”

What piece of advice would you give someone about to begin an RV renovation?

Take your time and get the paint right. It’s a lot of work (sand, clean with TSP, bonding primer, lightly sand, paint with sprayer and finish with poly). There are so many steps and I think sometimes people don’t realize just how long it takes to not only paint but allow it to cure. And please, don’t paint during the winter even while using a heater in the space (unless your rig has been in heated storage area or work space).
