Okay, I know this is the easiest thing ever and you may have already figured this out on your own, but just in case I am sharing an easy peasy way to DIY chalkboard labels {without a silhouette machine}.
Easy Peasy DIY Chalkboard Labels
We had a cookie table at our wedding reception and I wanted to create some easy chalkboard labels for the bags guests could take home with them. Of course these guys wound up being hidden behind a crate on our desert table so no one saw them anyway, woops. Most of the cookies got eaten and those that didn’t Eric and I enjoyed after the wedding.
I needed about 50 labels and since I am cheap was on a budget I decided I could save some money by making my own chalkboard labels. It was super easy too!
Materials Needed for DIY Chalkboard Labels:
I bought the labels at target and think they were like $2.99 for a 24 pack. Not too shabby. The chalkboard spray paint I had on hand from some DIY Chalkboards I had made. It was October when I was doing this project and pretty windy outside, so I taped the labels to the top of a box so they wouldn’t blow away when I used the spray paint.
I used 2 coats of spray paint on the labels, letting them dry in between coats.
Afterwards, we stuck them to the brown paper bags and my sister wrote K+E with a chalkboard marker. That’s it! Easy, huh?
It’s snowing here in Atlanta so I decided to take advantage of it and take a photo of one of the leftover bags outside, haha. The snow is so white and pretty! Yet I am definitely ready for spring…
Have you made your own chalkboard labels?
You weren’t kidding… these are super easy! I’m going to have to use that spray paint next time I want to chalkboard something. Looks waaayyy cleaner than the one you have to brush on!
Oh yeah and it was so much easier too!
Love this and SO simple! Sometimes in attempts to be “creative” I think we make way more work for ourselves. Thanks for sharing this easy idea!
I agree!. I definitely have a way of over thinking or over complicating things when it’s not necessary, and need to work on that 🙂
I love how easy this is! Thanks for sharing. Pinned! ~Lisa

Good call! I’ll definitely try this!
That is a great idea for easy chalkboard labels. I have a lot of blank white labels that I have acquired over the years and this would be a good use for some of them.
Yeah, it would be perfect for those!
This is seriously GENIUS! Love it so much, thank you for sharing
Thanks Sonnet!
Nice idea!!! I can’t get enough of chalkboard labels!!
Never would have thought of that, I love them!
Love chalkboard everything!
Awesome tip Katie!! I wonder if it would work as well if I painted the chalkboard paint on?? This makes chalkboard labeling so easy and thrifty!! Yay!!
I’m sure it would, I was just lazy and this seemed like the easiest way to do it, haha.
Thanks so much for linking up at Thursday STYLE! These are adorable! I never would have thought to spray paint them 🙂 Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
