Have you heard the news? Pantone recently came out with their 2014 Color of the Year which is Radiant Orchid, and I am loving the meaning behind it!
2014 Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid
I have never been much of a purple gal, but have to admit that I have been drawn to it more over the past year. What about you? Radiant orchid appears to be a shade of purple with pink and fuchsia undertones and tends to go well with neutral colors such as gray, metallics like gold, and bright hues like turquoise.
You can boldly add this color to your home by painting doors, accent walls, or furniture pieces and using various shades throughout the space. For some temporary flair sprinkle in some throw pillows, blankets, DIY art, or even add just a splash with some beautiful flowers in contrasting aqua mason jars.
From big impacts to small details, here are ways to incorporate Radiant Orchid into your home this year. Enjoy!

Will you be incorporating Radiant Orchid into your home decor this year?
Wow! Thanks for putting together this panoply of radiant orchid examples. This is the first time I’ve seen it used in so many exciting and lovely ways. It’s one of the colors I wear often, so I am really drawn to it.
Thank you Ann Marie! I try to stick to neutrals when designing our spaces just to keep the hubs happy, but this color is so fun I think I will be including it in my office space once we move next month 🙂 It’s definitely a fun color to wear too!
I love all of the color inspiration! I hate when you can’t find an original source for Pins…so disappointing! (And I love the ones that you have on here) Thanks for sharing on today’s Daily Blog Boost!

Yes, that is the most frustrating thing ever! I spend soooooo long trying to find the original source, but there comes a time when I have to move on. It does annoy me that a lot of other blogs will simply show the photo with no source or source someone else who posted it but didn’t create it. Boooooo.I just want to give proper credit where it’s due! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Great inspiration! Sharing on FB today!
Yay, thanks Jenna!
Great minds! I did a radiant orchid this week too! I really like it and I’m especially excited to see how it is used in makeup.
Oooh I can’t wait to check it out, heading over there now 🙂
Gorgeous color! I have loved purple for many years and I am loving all the inspirations you shared!
Hi Christine! Purple has always been my sister’s color but I think it’s time she shared 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Love all of these inspiration photos! It’s a pretty color, but I’m not sure that I’ll be able to get away with using it since I have a house full of boys!
I know what you mean Erin, I try to keep our home a bit more neutral with lots of blues and greens just to keep Eric happy, but I think I may try to add this to my office area in some DIY art 🙂
HI Katie, I love all the Radiant Orchid inspiration photos you selected! I’ve got some Radiant Orchid paint on my counter right now for a special project. Thanks for linking up at Thursday S.T.Y.L.E!
WoW! Love that color and it’s super stunning in a rustic setting. I just dropped in from The Cottage Market Linky Party. I’m now following you on G+ I hope you have a wonderful day!
I love this post! I’m normally not a purple person, but Radiant Orchid is gorgeous, and you have given me some awesome inspiration! Thanks so much for linking up at Thursday STYLE!
Totally missed the news! I think purplish pink may be one of the most difficult colours to incorporate into an adult home, but you found stunning examples!
Thank you Yana. Eric isn’t a huge fan of this color and we try to keep our home color friendly for both of us. Luckily I do the decorating otherwise everything would be black and red, haha.
I saw your post at Think Pink Sundays, and had to check it out! I am really stoked about Radiant Orchid being the Pantone color of the year–so wonderful!
I would love it if you stopped by our Facebook page to say ‘hello!’

I’m not a big fan of purples in general. I think I can get behind the more pink-y versions. Great pics!
Yeah, I have never really been into the “girly” colors so much until I started planning our wedding. Then all of a sudden I was obsessed with dusty purples, pinks and peaches, haha.
Definitely not my favorite color, but you found some really beautiful inspiration!
Thank you! I wasn’t a huge fan but after researching the color and staring at so many inspiring photos, I now appreciate this color so much more 🙂
Congratulations! Pantone Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid has been featured at Thursday S.T.Y.L.E.! I love all of the inspiration and ideas you posted for a huge variety of spaces! Thanks so much for linking up!
A wonderful selections!!! Thanks for sharing…hugs…
I immediately dismissed this year’s pantone color because I too am not a purple gal, but I have to say… these photos are really helping me warm up to it. This is such a gorgeous collection of inspiration!
Thank you Amy! I felt the same way at first but have warmed up to it as well. Thanks for stopping by!
Great color!! Love this round up, you put a lot of work into this and found some wonderful pictures. Totally inspiring
Ooh Miss Katie! You found so many stunning examples of this color! Love it! Pinning!
