Ashlin and Morgan have always loved the idea of tiny living, but it wasn’t until they began building their second home, that they decided to give it a try.
In less than 3 months they transformed an outdated 5th wheel into a tiny modern farmhouse that will make your jaw drop.
Morgan owns his own wood shop and Ashlin is an interior designer at heart. It’s no wonder these two have created an inspiring home on wheels they share with their 3 adorable little boys.
If this is what they can do with an RV, I can only imagine what they are going to do once their home is finished being built!
The details in this RV renovation are what really make it stand out. Ashlin has an eye for layering textures and patterns and Morgan’s custom woodwork is stunning!
While they may only be staying in this tiny modern farmhouse temporarily, I’m pretty sure it’s a place many would be happy to call home long-term.
Let’s dive into the tour!
RV turned Tiny Modern Farmhouse
What kind of camper do you have?
1999 Thor Fifth Wheel
How long did the renovation take?
2-3 months… Kinda forgot when exactly we started.
How much did it cost?
We bought the camper for $3800 and put about $3500 more into it
Do you travel or are you stationary?
Stationary
What made you decide to go “tiny”?
We always loved the idea but were too chicken to actually make it happen. But a few months back we found some property for sale. It was a 3.5 acre parcel that would be perfect for us to raise our 3 boys on. So… We decided to sell our house and live tiny while we built our new house.
Why was it important for you to update your camper?
We knew going tiny would come with a sufficient amount of sacrifice, so we had to try and make it as appealing as possible. We also really enjoy taking something that is old and basically dead and giving it new life. It’s one of the most rewarding things you can do.
Where you do draw your inspiration from?
A lot of inspiration came from our last house. (Partly because that made it easier to decorate since we already had stuff). We really love anything with a white and wood combination.
How would you describe your decorating style?
A little of a lot. Mid-century modern, Rustic, Bohemian, Farmhouse.
Where’s your favorite place to shop for décor?
My husband’s wood shop.
What was most challenging about your renovation?
Painting. It should have been a breeze but we tried to paint in the dead of a Utah winter. Bad idea! First two coats just dripped everywhere because of how cold it was.
What project made the most difference?
Paint haha. Also the wood accents.
Do you have any future projects or changes planned for the interior?
Not too much for the inside. We do want to redo the whole exterior though. So stay tuned!
What piece of advice would you give someone just starting an RV remodel?
You might not know anything about how RV’s or trailers work right now… But by the end of it, you’re bound to become an expert. So that’s something I guess!
What’s your favorite aspect of tiny living?
Our favorite aspect is that we will really appreciate having a house again haha. We are enjoying the moment and the memories our family will have from living tiny. But we will, in turn, be much more grateful when we have a house again.
What’s your least favorite aspect?
The hardest part for us as a family of 5, is personal space. You can’t have 5 personal spaces in a 30′ camper haha. But at the same time, it’s brought us closer together.
What is something you’ve learned in general or about yourself since going tiny?
That children especially, need very little material things. And that we should probably try to be more like that ourselves.
What has been your favorite place to explore or a place you are excited to explore in the future?
We are loving being able to explore the land around us. Our boys just get to adventure all the time.

It’s actually super helpful to see how they did the flooring for the slide and also in the raised part of the bedroom. I have been contemplating leaving the ugly carpet on the raised part of the floor in my bedroom, because it would be so much easier, but seeing how theirs looks makes mre feel like I definitely need to go ahead and tear out that carpet too.
It’s so funny, I thought they added that to the bedroom floor because it looks really cool. I can’t wait to see how your flooring turns out!
Hi Katie, what an amazing job you guys did with this RV. What color of white did you use?
Thanks
Rex
So beautiful! I really love how you show the before and after images too.
Thanks! The before/after slides are my favorite!
Can you please send the link for the wallpaper? I’ve been trying to find it and haven’t had any luck!! It’s so beautiful in your home!

Beautiful renovation and interesting article. I’m trying to figure out where the kids sleep. I see only one bedroom and a sofa. Always helps if there’s a floor plan on these.
They are now living in the house they built, but this is one of their most asked about questions, haha, so she made a video about it you can watch below:

Your reno is darling! Where did you get your lights?
I believe she got them on Amazon, including the special bulbs 🙂
What product do you use for the ship lap
What stain did you folks use for the wood trim? I love it!
It was a custom mix her hubby created but believe she’s mentioned it’s close to special walnut if you want to purchase something similar.
Where did you get the wallpaper in the bathroom?
I believe she used Penny tiles from Home Depot for the bathroom backslash.
So gorgeous! With 3 boys where do they sleep? I have 3 myself and am on the hunt for the perfect Camper. I only see one bed. Thank you!
