Are you looking for some last-minute Christmas decor ideas? Here is a quick and easy way to add a whimsical touch to your holiday decor that will only require a few minutes of your time. Plus you probably already have everything you need on hand!

DIY Whimsical Christmas Decor

We have a massive gallery wall in our family room that I like to tweak throughout the holidays, and since I have a bit of an obsession with thrifted frames and bottlebrush trees, I decided to display them in a fun and whimsical way. Of course, you could shop your house for other holiday decor to hang such as plastic ornaments, snowflakes, small nutcrackers, etc. You could also spray paint your trees a fun, bright color.

The frame I used already had the glass removed because it’s one of the frames I had used for the floating moss letters at our wedding and never put the glass back in. It is a frame I had picked up at Goodwill for a few bucks. You can use any size frame you want and just want to make sure to remove the glass and backing.

I then gathered up my bottlebrush trees. I wanted to use an off number which was perfect because after scattering my bottle brush trees around our home, I only had 5 left. They were all the same size but I think varying the heights of the trees would look fun too.

I then cut some fishing line and tied one end around the top of a tree. I made sure to leave the fishing line extra long so I could decide which height I would want to have each tree hang from the frame. I did this for every 5 trees.

Afterward, I would grab the other end of the fishing line from one of the trees and placed a thumbtack into the back of the frame where I wanted it to hang.

I wrapped the fishing line around it a few times and then pushed the thumbtack in, which held the fishing line in place. It’s basically the same thing I did for this frame.  I hope this makes sense because I didn’t take many photos of this process. It was sort of a last-minute project that didn’t take much time at all.

This was super easy and I love how it looks on our gallery wall! What do you think of our DIY Whimsical Christmas Decor?
