It’s crazy to think we’re entering week 19 of our pregnancy – the first trimester felt like it went sooooooooo slow, but the past few weeks seem to have flown by.
I’ve enjoyed watching weekly pregnancy update videos on Youtube, so I thought it would be fun to make something similar. Given our history, I was nervous about creating a pregnancy update video until I felt more confident in this pregnancy. And while there’s no guarantee for how it will unfold, now that we’re in the second trimester, I feel much more comfortable sharing how it’s progressed so far.
You can check out the video below, where I recap our first trimester with our baby due in August 2023. Pregnancy after loss can be challenging to navigate at times, and because I’ve experienced recurrent miscarriage, I share some of our backstory, what I did differently before this pregnancy, and how I felt during the first 13 weeks – including symptoms, cravings, and food aversions.
True confession, I originally recorded this video last week and it wasn’t until I got it on my computer that I realized it was blurry. I then attempted to re-record it a couple days later and accidentally recorded it in slow-motion! So I finally attempted it one last time and aside from the sun coming and going it’s not blurry or in slow motion, so I’ll consider that a win.
The video is a bit long because I also talk about two gut health tests I took last year that were important for me to feel more confident and less anxious during our pregnancy. Those tests were seriously life changing and an important part of my journey. And if you’re experiencing any sort of health issues I encourage you to at least watch that part of the video to see if it’s something you may want to research further. That section starts around the 5:56 mark.
If you’ve experienced pregnancy loss, or are currently pregnant, I hope this video makes you feel that you’re not alone in how you’re feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally.
