I have been enjoying the warm weather here in Georgia but the allergies are soooo awful! I never even had allergies until I moved here a few years ago but this has to be the worst year yet. I switched to Zyrtec this morning and am hoping it makes the dizziness go away soon. If you know of any great allergy tips I’d LOVE to hear about them in the comments! As for now, allergies may just be one of the top reasons for us to move back to California…

Also, if you received my monthly newsletter you know I have been working on my wedding website this week. I have gotten quite a bit transferred over so far but it’s taking a bit longer than I anticipated. Of course allergies, spending 3 different days at dealerships (we did get back into the Jeep family, yay!), our in-laws coming to visit, my server acting all wonky, and my birthday {which was yesterday} it’s just been a little crazy around here, haha. I am proud of how much I’ve accomplished but still have a lot to do before my new posts start next week (yikes!). The server issues have really made it difficult but it looks like it may finally be fixed, whew!

It’s also a good thing our in-laws got here early this week, because we just found out some bad weather is headed our way, which means they had to head back to Florida today.

With all that said I’m really excited about this year and my new motto is “Do something today that your future self will thank you for”.

Did you know that the very first link up party I ever joined was at Redoux Interiors? I had heard about link parties but was too scared to link up. I guess I felt like my blog wasn’t good enough, didn’t have enough projects and was nervous no one would come back. Did you feel the same way when you first joined a link party? Also, are you all linked up at The Makers?

Well there was something about the way Karen wrote that made me feel like we were friends {stalker much? haha}. She just comes off as this super fun lady that doesn’t judge and embraces what you do and who you are. Needless to say I linked up my first project, this painted globe, and then screwed up and put the project title was my name. Hahaha. I was freaking out and even left a comment asking if it could be changed, although looking back it really wasn’t a big deal.

The reason I bring this up is because I’m so excited to have teamed up with Redoux Interiors AND Curb Alert to bring you a new upcycled series!

There are soooo many amazing DIY bloggers out there that it can be easy to miss some of the best posts! Fear not fellow upcyclers because we have put together a NEW weekly DIY upcycling share post! Each week we will host a collaborative post with projects and links you may have missed. I hope you will spend some time visiting my DIY/Upcycling friends, these ladies are amazing!

Karen from Redouxinteriors saved this chair from certain trash death. This chair got a major makeover. It was horrible and stained, but guess what, you can spray paint leather! Check out the post to see how!

  1. Noooo dont leave!!!

It is funny, I used to have BAD allergies when I lived in Chicago, but down here they are only mild. Different trees. My suggestion is switch up your allergy meds when you run out. If we stick with one brand for too long, it loses power.

    1. Lol. I was taking sudafed the first week and it seemed to work and the past week I’ve been taking zyrtec. I practically passed out on my computer last Friday and had a fever over the weekend so I guess it was more than just allergies. I figured that’s all it was though so I kept pushing through, which just made it worse. Woops. I’m new to this whole allergy thing and it is no fun…

  2. This is a really great way to continue spreading the love! I love the upcycled projects shared here today. Sorry to hear about yoyr allergies. Ive always struggled and always have to mix and match a cocktail of medications to feel somewhat normal. I hope you feel a remedy soond

    1. Thanks Corinna! Yeah, allergies suck but I am trying some homeopathic remedies because none of the pills seem to be working, and I’m not one for shots. I just have to remind myself that around this time next year I will be back in California and hopefully the allergies will be bye-bye, haha.

  3. Katie, love your nautical rope mirror (I just saw a similar one at Target and actually like yours better!) and I agree with how you feel about Karen, she is such a fun person and I look forward to what she scores each week! It’s and honor to host the new series with both of you! Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks Alexis, it’s my favorite part of our house right now, although I still have a couple frames I need to fill in. I figured I would put it all up and then fill in the frames later vs. the other way around because who knows when it would get up, ha.

  4. hi katie! thank you so much for hosting these amazing link parties, and for sharing your talents! i am crazy about upcycling. look forward to many more of your creative projects!

    1. Thanks Ananda! Projects have been slow this month with trying to get my wedding site all put together, so hopefully I will be able to share more next month 🙂

So happy you like the link party! I love seeing all of the wondering projects linked up so thank you for being a part of it 🙂

  5. Hi Katie,

I work for an Allergy and Asthma specialist in NC and it’s a REALLY bad year for allergies this year because of the cold winter and all the snow and ice we had here in the South. Zyrtec is a good medication – if you’re congested, I’d suggest switching to Zyrtec-D. Another thing that might be helpful is a nasal steroid (not the bad kind of steroid) spray. Your family doctor should be willing to write you a script for one since you’re suffering so much. Stay indoors if possible and if you must be outside, change clothes and shower as soon as you come in to get rid of any lingering pollen. Best of luck to you – love your blog!

    1. Thanks Marie! I don’t know if things cleared up a bit over the last few weeks or what but I am doing soooo much better now, whew! I actually started taking this mannatech stuff my mother-in-law gave me like 6 months ago and haven’t had to take allergy medicine for over 2 weeks! It’s just plant based vitamins and I use the powder and mix it in some juice so I don’t know if that’s really what fixed me up, or if things just got better. Either way it’s nice to feel normal again, haha.

      Thanks for the tips!

      ~Katie
