Nikki and her husband, Steven, recently purchased a 2005 Toy Hauler they could take on weekend trips, but wanted to make the interior feel like an extension of their current home.
That was going to take a lot of work, considering what the interior looked like when they purchased it.
Nikki has a passion for decor, Steven is a cabinet maker and it’s easy to see the quality and craftsmanship that was poured into this tiny home on wheels.
I am in awe of this transformation, it’s absolutely gorgeous and completely unrecognizable from the before!
Yup, I’m pretty sure you’ll wanna go glamping in this modern farmhouse toy hauler, so let’s dive into the tour!
Modern Farmhouse Toy Hauler
What kind of RV do you have?
2005 Xtra-Lite Ragen Toy Hauler
Do you travel or are you stationary?
Ours is for camping although my neighbors call it glamping!
What made you decide to buy an RV?
I’ve always been team tent. Most Rv’s felt dated and to be honest didn’t always smell great. But my husband and I felt if we gave it a go we could make our RV into everything we wanted and needed.
Why was it important for you to update the interior of your tiny home?
I wanted our hauler to feel like an extension of our sticks and bricks home. Nothing out there (even the newer models) had that feel. Now when we go out, which during the summer and fall is almost every weekend, each night of our adventure feels like coming home!
How long did the renovation take?
3.5 months
How much did it cost?
Roughly $6,000. Although we did all of the work ourselves and have several items already on hand.
How would you describe your decorating style?
I’m probably more modern farmhouse than anything else but I can appreciate and incorporate almost everything!
Where’s your favorite place to shop for décor?
Amazon is my absolute go to place for everything!
What was most challenging about your renovation?
We found water damage. Wah wah wah! It added both time and expense to make sure we corrected the problem.
What project made the most difference?
My husband does cabinets for a living. So it made sense that we would remove and rebuild all new cabinets. We made them lighter and added way more usable storage than before!
Do you have any future projects or changes planned for the interior?
Nope! We tackled all of at once!
What piece of advice would you give someone about to embark on a renovation?
Do your flooring in the summer. We thought we waited until it was warm enough but it still expanded and we had to fix it.
What’s your favorite aspect of tiny living?
I love going on adventures in comfort and style!
What’s your least favorite aspect?
While we did a large upgrade to the toilet situation, it still smells on occasion. Blah!
What is something you’ve learned in general or about yourself since going tiny?
I’m now a trailer person! In fact I’ve talked my sister in law and mother in-law into redoing theirs!
What has been your favorite place to explore or a place you are excited to explore in the future?
We live in Utah and it has some amazing places to visit and explore. We have taken our ATV’s and kayaks out to so many beautiful places it would be hard to narrow it down. But Moab and Lake Powell are amongst my favorites.
Are there any specific products you would like to include – maybe something you get asked the most about such as such as paint colors used, wallpaper, flooring, light fixtures, furniture or specific decor??
I would totally recommend everyone replace their toilet to a porcelain one. Nothing feels more like home than that! Haha! And always look at amazon warehouse for amazing deals on lighting, fixtures ect.

wow maybe it was because the trailer wasn’t extremely big, but that’s impressive.
How did you do the shower walls? I’ve been looking everywhere for nice sheet vinyl but everything is that wood floor look, impossible to find a white tile! If you used something other than a sheet, how did you water proof? I’m doing a toyhauler too, so nice to see your pics, just gorgeous! Hard to find elaborate toyhauler renos!
