Time to Simplify | MountainModernLife.com

There have been some changes going on over here, and despite a lack of posts Eric and I have been working hard behind the scenes.

As some of you may already know, in addition to maintaining this blog I have a second blog dedicated to wedding projects and inspiration. However, managing two blogs has certainly taken its toll on me and in an effort to simplify our business before hitting the open road, we made the decision to combine blogs.

It’s Time to Simplify

Combining blogs is one of those decisions that I toyed with for a while. I was finding it difficult to keep up with the content, comments, and emails on both sites and decided I would rather share all of my content in one place to simplify things a bit. Since making that decision it was like a huge weight was lifted off of my back and I was able to breathe a little easier. I have no regrets about starting the separate wedding blog nearly two years ago as it was the right decision at the time. It also opened up many doors, and I learned a lot along the way.

I also had a digital shop selling DIY wedding invitations and decided to move those over to my new shop as well, which is where I will also be sharing digital wall prints.

Soooooo… the past few weeks have been spent re-designing our website, combining blogs and updating the shop. All of which has taken A LOT longer than anticipated. We’re not done yet, as we still have site changes to implement and items to add back to the shop.

Oh and I also designed a baby shower and wedding invitation for my sister in the past couple weeks too, which you can see below.

This is a slight variation of the simple, rustic invitation set I made for my sister, which is available in the shop:

By the way, since we actually have 2 weddings and a baby shower happening by June we decided to push our official RV Adventure date back until the first of July.

Anyway, for now, we are going to slow down the pace a bit on the backend bloggy stuff and make those changes a little bit at a time, while focusing our attention back on content.

After reading the book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up (which I highly recommend if you haven’t already read it!) I have given a great deal of thought to not just simplifying our home, but our life.

Does it tire, or inspire?

This whole RV adventure has really made me look at everything a bit differently, in a good way. I’m honestly so excited to join the tiny house movement and enjoy the simpler things in life, even if the road trip is only for a year.  I have also been giving a lot of thought to the question, “Does it tire, or Inspire?”.

Sure we have certain obligations in life, but it seems we can sometimes put expectations on ourselves that aren’t necessarily warranted. At least I know I do. Since realizing this I’ve been trying to pay more attention to how certain tasks make me feel and align myself with what feels right at the time. It’s easy to keep doing something out of habit or expectation. However, when you take a minute to reflect on some of the added stress you’re creating, you may realize it’s time to eliminate certain tasks that no longer add value or bring joy to your life.

Okay, enough rambling. I just wanted to give you a little heads up with what’s been going on around here. If you are curious about the progress of our RV renovation, you can check out our most recent video here.

We’re extremely excited about all of the changes going on and look forward to sharing what we learn on this journey with you!
