A couple months ago, Eric and I made a trip up to North Georgia to spend a few days in a small cabin and get some mountain maternity photos taken. Even though we booked the cabin at the last minute, it was such a relaxing trip and the photoshoot went smoother than I anticipated.

The weather report was showing storms for days but thankfully, it was a beautiful, sunny day and the mountain backdrop at Vogel State Park couldn’t have been more dreamy.

Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite photos from the shoot. The photographer, Jessica Reeves, did an incredible job capturing such a special time in our lives, and I highly recommend her.

However, if there was anything I’d change…. it would probably be my dress. The photoshoot was sort of last minute and it was more challenging to find the dress I had mind. The ones I loved most were either out of stock, wouldn’t arrive in time, were hundreds more than I planned to spend, or were already rented out.

I bought a few different options and ultimately wore a rust colored dress from Baltic Born, but because they no longer had the color available I bought it used off Poshmark. It was a little big, but super comfortable. (By the way, Baltic Born has a funky return policy and Amazon has some dupe dresses available here and here.)

Looking through the photos I noticed that the top of the dress sort of blends into my bump, so I almost wish I wore a dress that was more fitted up top or that showed off my bump a bit more. I also probably could have held my bump a bit tighter in the photos to accentuate it more. It’s also funny how there were days my baby bump would feel more comfortable and a tad lower, and other days when it felt super tight and higher – the day we took the photos it was the latter.

Just a little FYI for anyone else planning a maternity photo shoot. With that said, I love the color and still think the photos turned out amazing! Jessica made us feel so comfortable and it was an experience we’ll never forget.

The journey here hasn’t been easy, and we don’t know if more kids are in our future, so this photoshoot was extra special for us. If you’re on the fence about getting maternity photos, I say go for it!

It’s crazy to think we’re just a few weeks away from meeting our little boy. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do.

  2. Congratulations! Super exciting and maybe a little nervous to be bringing your baby home soon. You two will be great parents. I think the pictures turned out lovely and that backdrop wow!
    You are both truly blessed.

  3. Sweetheart, you look perfectly beautiful! I wouldn’t change a thing. I wish you all the best with your little miracle,

We struggled trying to get pregnant, and the one “success” was ectopic. But by then, we had already adopted the first of our four children. We used to facilitate adoption classes, and we shared a quote with all of our couples: “Your children are out there, and they will find you. They may come through your body or someone else’s, but they are your children and they WILL find you.”

Something to think about, but for now, CONGRATULATIONS! And don’t worry (it’s perfectly normal to get home from the hospital and think, “Holy moly, what now?!”). You got this!
